Event description

Description

“People ignore design that ignores people”

People thrive in environments that are designed to be in tune with their needs - called user-centred design. Productivity and safety are optimised. Motivation is high. Human performance pivots towards success.

This two-day course introduces attendees to two areas where user-centred design is becoming essential for increasing productivity and improving safety.

#1 Designing the physical environment

The design of our physical workplaces, shared spaces, and infrastructure requires a dedicated focus to ensure productivity, efficiency, experience and safety. We examine how you can practically apply Human Factors principles to optimise the design of the physical environment.

#2 Designing the working environment

In workplaces, user-centred design can positively influence employee motivation, experience and performance, and improve customer experiences. We examine how you can apply Human Factors and user-centred design methods to diagnose workplace issues, design more engaging processes and systems, and implement initiatives more effectively.

Tools to take away

We have developed a set of simple tools that attendees can take-away and apply on any project or workplace. These include:

  • Free access to our online user-impact assessment tool, Easy-U
  • Toolkit to help assess user needs
  • Toolkit to diagnose causes to organisational issues and uncover improvement opportunities
  • Toolkit to understand and prevent human error

This course is ideal for:

  • Technical & engineering leaders
  • Workplace design practitioners
  • Designers
  • Project Managers
  • Safety professionals
  • UX & CX specialists

This course will:

  • Strengthen your insights into user behaviour, perception and experience.
  • Hone your skills in assessing how an environment influences behaviour.
  • Enable you to visualise complex problems using systems thinking.
  • Enhance the thinking you use to predict user impacts.
