Use dialogic reading to support spoken language and emergent literacy skill...
Tue. 16 May 2017, 9:00 am – 11:30 am AEST
This workshop (face-to-face) explores dialogic (shared) book reading which is an important activity that promotes children's language and literacy development. It provides a unique learning context for children as it presents both oral and written language simultaneously and allows them access to a world of sights, sounds and words that may be quite different from what they experience in their homes, their communities and their schools. This session will explore how adults can engage their child as an active participant in shared book reading to increase language competence and build emergent literacy skills. The first hour of this session is available for participants online and face-to-face at the Reading Centre. The second hour is for participants at the Reading Centre.
