URBAN CYCLING CONFIDENCE // 4.5hrs

Are you already a bike rider, and looking to boost your confidence when cycling in traffic?

Do you want to start commuting to work or uni? To accompany your children to school by bike? To ride to the local shops to pick up some groceries? Or to ride and meet friends at a local cafe?

If so, this 4.5 hour course is for you!

This small group workshop is designed for adults and is perfect if you are looking to boost your confidence to ride on local roads.

The first part of the training will take place in a traffic-free area where you will learn and practice basic bike control skills. After a 30 minute break (BYO lunch) there will be a group ride on local roads to put what you’ve learned into practice.

During the workshop you will:

• discuss route planning
• learn about defensive riding techniques
• practice road positioning
• learn to navigate through intersections and roundabouts
• use bike lanes with confidence
• and much, much more!

Is there an age limit?

• Yes. This course is only available to adults aged 18+.

How do I get there?

• Bike: Ride along the St Georges Road shared path to Bell Street. You can explore all our Bike Shimmy Routes in this google map. And you can download a copy of our TravelSmart Map via our website.
• Train: Take your bike on the train to Bell Station which is a 2 minute ride away (South Morang line). You can also use the PTV App to help plan your journey.
• Car: Car-parking is available at Darebin Arts Centre car park.

What should I bring?

• A bicycle in good condition with working brakes, a bell, and pumped-up tyres
• A well fitting bicycle helmet
• Comfortable closed-toe footwear
• Sun/weather protection
• A bottle of water
• A packed lunch and snacks

I don't live, work or study in Darebin. Can I do this workshop?

• Unsold tickets will be made available for people from outside Darebin one week prior to the workshop.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket?

• No, you do not need to bring your ticket on the day.

What is the refund policy?

• We offer refunds up to 7 days before the workshop. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide refunds after this time. However, If you are unable to attend the workshop due to unforeseen circumstances, you may transfer your ticket to another friend or family member by updating your registration online.
