Smart cities for smart citizens

As we move towards a world where technology will impact on all parts of our lives especially in our urbanised areas, how does the Smart City Agenda impact the future lives of our citizens?

How does data, the Internet of Everything (IOT), our sensing the city approach contribute to improving the quality of life for our residents and visitors to our city?

How will it affect the way we design and retrofit our cities and what is the pathway for Adelaide becoming a smart city?

Adelaide has been undergoing a consultation on a smart city agenda for economic benefit and developing a pathway for innovation. Listen to the outcomes - what is missing contribute to the debate how do we engage all parts of the community on our smart city pathway how will driverless cars provide interesting challenges and opportunities for us to rethink our use of space in the city.

We welcome your input, advice and invite you listen to Paul Daly a key leader in the 'Adelaide Smart City Studio' and agenda, as he outlines how smart cities must create better experiences for the people that use the cities and while technology is an important enabler its part of the journey towards a smart city

Paul Daly - Advisor, Entrepreneurship & Innovation, Adelaide City Council; Convenor, Adelaide Entrepreneurship Forum. Paul played a central role in the establishment of m.Net Corporation Limited. He was responsible for building the shareholder consortium, securing $15 million of inaugural funding and establishing the company’s early structure.

Phil Donaldson -
Director, Sustain SA; current member and the Past President of AIUS from 2013 -2015, an active member of the AIUS SA over 10 years. Phil has a Masters in Environmental Management and is a Green Star Accredited Professional and Assessor.

Nick Falkner - Associate Professor, School of Computer Science, The University of Adelaide. Nick conducts research into computer network design and development, network security, privacy preservation, the Internet of Things and educational research, with a focus on increasing student participation, retention, and enthusiasm. He is the theme leader for Internet of Things and Big Data within the Australian Smart Cities Consortium, unifying his network and IoT research, and co-leads the University’s Blockchain Community of Practice.
