Description

Many cities around the world are experiencing challenges relating to chronic stresses – growing levels of mental illness, drug use, random acts of extremism and violence, unemployment - particularly among young people, as well as growing social inequity, transitioning economies and climate change.

To manage this increasing complexity and uncertainty we need new tactics.

Join us for Urban Briefing No. 4: How do you shape a city of wellbeing? on Monday 8th August 2016, 5.30pm – 7pm with guest speakers Jordi Pardo (from Barcelona) and Gabrielle Kelly.

Jordi Pardo, founding partner of Nartex Barcelona is a specialist in urban intervention. Jordi has served as an independent expert of the European Commission for the selection of European Cultural Capitals (ECOC), team member of international experts of UNESO in cultural policies within the framework of UNESCO Convention of 2005 for the Protection and Promotion of Diversity of Cultural Expressions. He is an expert in the program of Culture, Development and Governance (2011 – 2015). Jordi has run and assessed projects related to culture, heritage and development in Spain, Italy, Sweden, Brazil, Argentina, Bolivia, Honduras, Paraguay, Palestine, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Vietnam and Chile.

Gabrielle Kelly is the Director of the Wellbeing and Resilience Centre at the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI), film-maker, digital media executive, social entrepreneur, strategist and former Adelaide Thinker in Residence Director. Established in 2015, the Wellbeing and Resilience Centre’s bold purpose is to build wellbeing and resilience at scale. Through population and primary health approaches, South Australia will emerge as a State of Wellbeing, demonstrating a scalable model for Australia and beyond.

This presentation is important to any practitioner in the business of shaping urban centres and cities. A Certificate of Attendence for continuing professional development (CPD) purposes can be provided upon request.
