Event description

Description

This workshop on building real business cases equips participants with an interactive, unfolding business case aligned with the new syllabus (Unit 1 and 2). The case details an entrepreneur’s journey from startup idea through to building a product, hiring a team, raising investment and launching a product in the market. The interactive unfolding case takes students through the startup’s journey and at times places the student in the role of the entrepreneur enabling them to analyse the real-life decision the entrepreneur faced using core concepts from the curriculum. The case provides the stimulus to draw out the learning outcomes in Unit 1 and 2 including video interviews with the entrepreneur, a detailed excel document with the startups projected financials, concept explanations and activities to support primary data collection.

As part of the workshop a local entrepreneur shares their startup journey. Participants’ workshop in small groups the questions to ask the entrepreneur using the principals of design thinking. Slides to support this activity are provided to support replicating this activity with students.

On conclusion of the day, teachers will have access to the case and supporting teaching materials to use in class. The case is cloud based and easy to share with students.
