Upskilled - Sports for Children
Wed. 20 September 2017, 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm AEST
Upskilled is a series of information sessions for women of the ACT region providing practical and informative information and resources to provide women with knowledge, empowerment and skills to live their lives positively and confidently.
While these sessions are organised by DVCS and some are facilitated by DVCS staff, they are also facilitated by specialists in the area of expertise required.
These sessions are aimed at all people identifying as female in the ACT region, regardless of their relationship status, financial status, age, residency and immigration status and whether or not they are a current or previous client of DVCS. In other words, you do not have to have experienced domestic or family violence to attend these sessions.
Registration is necessary for all sessions. If you are unable to make it, we appreciate you letting us know so we can open your place for someone else.
All sessions include light refreshments (coffee, tea and biscuits).
There are no child care options available during these sessions and some sessions are not appropriate for people under the age of 16 years.
Our Sports for Children session is aimed at mothers who aren't sure about what sporting options are available for children in the ACT and/or what the difference is between some codes (i.e. Rugby League and Rugby Union), information on how to get involved in a sport, what equipment is needed and likely costs. This is espeically ideal for women who are new to Canberra or Australia.
Other sessions being held include:
16 May - Personal Banking
28 June - IT & Social Media Safety
22 August - Car maintenance
19 October - Home maintenance
16 November - Family and individual support services of the ACT
