Plenty of people are keen to learn upholstery but want to learn on their own project - this is that workshop!
Join our small class to gain the basics in DIY Upholstery, and confidence to tackle larger projects in the future.
Over four evenings you will learn to strip your occasional chair*, re-web, spring and stuff it, and apply final fabric.
This is the ideal workshop to tackle an occasional chair, footstool or dining chair. The skills you learn here will apply to a whole range of projects you’ll be keen to take on in the future!
Cost includes all materials as well as tool loan, hardware, a selection of fabrics and light refreshments.
Please take a moment to read our FAQ/Terms & Conditions before enrolling.
SUITABLE PROJECTS that can be completed in the 4 evenings;
(Timber arms, upholstered seat & Back, Small frame, dining chairs, bridge chairs, foot stools)
PROJECTS TO AVOID:
(Fabric arms, TV Chairs with loose cushions and visible timber frames, diamond buttoning, tub chairs, frames which move easily when jiggled) These projects are possible, though may require 7 or 8 sessions instead of just 4 - please contact maaike - email@example.com with a photo of your chair to discuss further.
* this course will not cover substantial timber repair- chairs with loose or broken frames are not suitable projects.
* this course will not cover machine sewing. Chairs with multiple loose cushions eg Danish style TV chairs are not suitable projects.
*You MUST be able to bring and remove your project each week as there is no opportunity to store projects on site between classes.
THE FINE PRINT:
We have class minimums and in the case we don’t make them you be offered a refund or class transfer to a later date.
Projects MUST be approved at least 7 days prior to the course start date. Please email a photo of your project when you enroll, if not before, to confirm suitability.
In the event your project is too ambitious for the course you will be refunded in full. If your photo is received after this cut off period and deemed unsuitable for the course you will not be eligable for a refund or course transfer due to insufficient notice.
If you are unsure of your project's suitability for any reason, please email images to firstname.lastname@example.org prior to enrolling and completing payment.
Due to limited numbers and minimum run requirements, workshop fees are non refundable, and non transferable for later dates. If you can no longer attend for any reason, consider friends or family who might make the most of your investment!.
