Event description
Make an up-cycled Rag Quilt. Save old clothes and sheets from going to landfill by learning how to use them to create this everyday quilt.

About this Event

Join Karen from Old Mill Quilting in this workshop where she will teach you the timeless skill of rag quilting that is at the heart of Simple Living.

In this hands-on workshop you will be making your own small quilt 80cm x 60cm to learn the techniques, hints and tips of rag quilting and then be able to go home and share your new-learned skills with your family, friends and community.

The ragging technique involves the layering of 3 fabrics all of which are seen in the finished project. The middle layer can be thin cotton wadding but recycled old flannelette sheets make a great alternative.

It's an ideal project to use any fabric remnants that you may have or recycle any clothes to make into a memory rag quilt. A list of materials will be emailed to you once the course has been booked.

Classes are limited to 12 students, so each student gets plenty of personal instruction.

Basic sewing machine knowledge and a sewing machine is needed for this workshop.

This class will give you the confidence to start and make more!

Lunch is included, along with tea and coffee.

Recommended Age 13 +

This workshop is one of the series of the ‘Made It Myself - Sharing with Others’ series, run by Our Life Our Way, on behalf of Transition Streets Geelong, supported by the City of Greater Geelong through its Environment and Sustainability program.
