Upcycle your jewellery
Event Information
About this Event
Do you have old jewellery that you never wear but can’t part with? Perhaps it has sentimental value but is old-fashioned, or broken, or just not quite your style. Or maybe you have a special bead that you don’t know what to do with.
Bring it along to this interactive , experimental workshop and learn techniques to give it a new life. Techniques covered will depend on the interests of the group, but may include bead stringing, making simple findings with wire, using polymer clay to make complementary accents, incorporating found objects and making earrings. We will also discuss basic repair techniques, so bring any broken pieces you have.
There will be a strong emphasis on design principles, exploring how size, texture, symmetry and colour considerations can create one-of-a-kind contemporary jewellery.
By the end of this workshop you’ll have at least one finished piece that is sure to receive compliments (and make great Christmas gifts!)
The workshop cost includes instruction plus sufficient wire, tigertail, crimps, leather and findings to complete a piece with your beads and found objects. Tools are available for use during the class. Additional materials and silver findings may be purchased at the class if required.
