About this event

Take the leap into further developing your business idea in UNSW Canberra's newest hands on professional development short course for UNSW alumni living in the ACT and surrounds, The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program.

Presented by UNSW Canberra in collaboration with the Canberra Innovation Network (CBRIN) and UNSW Founders Program this face-to-face course delivered over five sessions promises to introduce you to methodologies of entrepreneurship, creative making and thinking. Through workshops hosted by experts in the industry, you will learn how to turn an idea into a business plan.

Program information

The basics

What: Face-to-face short course on the topic of innovation and entrepreneurship

When: Wednesday 23 June - Thursday 29 July - delivered across five sessions (further details below)

Time: Sessions one to four will be half day workshops run in the morning. Session five will be an evening event.

Cost of program: $300 per person

Commitment: Four half day workshops

Delivery: In-person workshops, all held within the ACT. Class of 30 or less.

Eligibility: UNSW Canberra or UNSW Sydney alumni or current UNSW Canberra or Sydney students only. You must be able to attend all sessions over the six week period.

The Sessions

Session 1: Innovation Essentials - Wednesday 23 June

Presented by CBRIN, Innovation Essentials introduces some core concepts, principles and methods of innovation.

Session 2: Lean Canvas - Thursday 1 July

Presented by UNSW Founders, Lean Canvas teaches participants to create a one-page business plan for their lean start-up.

Session 3: Business 101 - Tuesday 13 July

Presented by UNSW Canberra, Business 101 will feature talks from UNSW alumni who are successful in the innovation and entrepreneurship space with a focus on planning your business strategy and engaging investors.

Session 4: How to Pitch - Thursday 22 July

Presented by UNSW Founders, How to Pitch teaches participants how to create and deliver a pitch effectively.

Session 5: The Pitch Night - Thursday 29 July

Presented by UNSW Canberra, this is an opportunity for participants to put what they've learnt into practice and pitch their idea to experts in the industry.
