Event description
Find out how to be more inclusive of people with disability in relation to arts, culture and events.

About this Event

Around 20% of Australians live with disability. So making sure programming, services and infrastructure is accessible for people with disability or who are Deaf is a smart strategy for building audiences for performances, exhibitions and events.

Join us for this FREE breakfast meetup to explore how arts, culture and events workers in the Northern Rivers region are improving their access and inclusion frameworks for artists and audiences with disability. Light refreshments will be provided.

Learn about:

  • The business case for being more inclusive of people with disability
  • Practical tips and easy wins in relation to improving accessibility
  • How to make use of local accessibility programs and services

Speakers

  • Claudie Flock, Learning Officer, Lismore Art Gallery
  • Sunita Bala, Project Manager, Real Artworks
  • Emily Brugman, Festival Administrator, Byron Writers Festival
  • Sigrid MacDonald, Auslan and Access Advisor, Second Nature Strategies

Agenda

  • Tuesday 22 October, 8:00am – 10:30am
  • 8am: Doors open + coffee/tea

  • 8:30am - 10:00am: Panel Discussion + Q & A
