Event description

Description

The Diversity and Inclusion Centre of Expertise in conjunction with the Mosaic Network are pleased to be able to bring you a pre-screening of “The Australian Dream” on Tuesday 20th of August at 5:30pm prior to its Australian launch on the 22nd of August.

BAFTA Award winning director Daniel Gordon and Walkley Award winning journalist Stan Grant join forces to tell the remarkable story of AFL legend Adam Goodes. Through the powerful backdrop of Goodes’ journey, the film explores race, identity and belonging in Australia today. The film will unpick the events of the 2013-15 AFL seasons and ask fundamental questions about the nature of racism and discrimination in society today.

We will be joined by Tim Soutphommasane (Professor of Practice - Sociology & Political Theory), Rebecca Halliday (Director of Indigenous External Relationship Development) and a representative from Reconciliation Australia to address the topics raised. We will also have an exclusive pre-recorded introduction from Stan Grant providing context for this important documentary.

Please join us for light refreshments following the proceedings.
