Event Details

Throughout the summer of 2011- 2012 the Australian Museum (AMBS) Archaeology & Heritage unit under took a very special excavation project on behalf of UTS.  Join us as we celebrate National Archaeology Week and hear from the Excavation Director, Jennie Lindbergh, as she recalls the amazing discoveries found lying underneath 14-28 Ultimo Road. After battling against the bad luck of a very wet summer Jennie and her team didn’t expect to find remains of the 1850’s cottages, but they did! Although the history of the site was known, the remains she uncovered were entirely unexpected and more extensive than indicated by any historical records.

About the speaker:
Since early 2007, Jennie Lindbergh has been working at the Australian Museum as AMBS Senior Project Manager. She extended the breadth of AMBS’ consulting skills to include historic heritage projects as well the traditional consulting base of Aboriginal heritage. With over 20 years of experience in heritage consultancy, Jennie has expertise in built, industrial and landscape heritage and historical archaeology.
