Unexpected excavations – Ultimo, what lies beneath
Tuesday, May 21, 2013 from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM (EST)
Throughout the summer of 2011- 2012 the Australian Museum (AMBS) Archaeology & Heritage unit under took a very special excavation project on behalf of UTS. Join us as we celebrate National Archaeology Week and hear from the Excavation Director, Jennie Lindbergh, as she recalls the amazing discoveries found lying underneath 14-28 Ultimo Road. After battling against the bad luck of a very wet summer Jennie and her team didn’t expect to find remains of the 1850’s cottages, but they did! Although the history of the site was known, the remains she uncovered were entirely unexpected and more extensive than indicated by any historical records.
