Understanding the Autism Spectrum

This is a must for anyone who lives or works with an individual on the autism spectrum. The workshop outlines the diagnostic criteria including the effects of the DSM-5 (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders of the American Psychiatric Association's) that was introduced in 2013 and explores the unique characteristics of the spectrum. Participants will begin to understand the profile of an individual on the spectrum including their strengths and challenges through personal stories, research and videos.
Participants will leave this workshop with a greater understanding of the autism spectrum and will develop an understanding of strategies that are effective when supporting an individual on the autism spectrum.
