An information session on power of attorney laws for Community Members
Members of the general public will find this education to be of considerable value in informing and updating them on the new powers of attorney laws that came into effect on the 1 September 2015
Enduring powers of attorney allow people to appoint someone to make decisions for them should they be faced with an accident or illness and unable to make their own decisions. Many people are unsure about which documents to complete and the processes required to ensure they are legally valid. Support and information can assist people to make arrangements work best for them and offer protection in the future.
The new provision for the appointment of supportive attorneys will also be covered
There will be opportunity for participants to ask questions
Car parking is very limited. There is short-term metered parking in surrounding streets. There is also a car park underneath the building , but spaces are limited, particularly later in the day.
Participants are encouraged to use public transport:
- Trams along Swanston St. towards Melbourne University, to stop-3 Lincoln Square, take Pelham Street and walk through Argyle Square towards 204 Lygon Street
- Closest stations are Parliament or Melbourne Central
- A number of bus routes travel along Lygon St.
