Event Details

The one day workshop follows on from the webinar “Understanding the post-partum women”, however you are welcome to attend the workshop even if you missed it.

Post-partum women are undergoing a natural physiological process to return to pre-natal physiology. In order to understand common clinical presentations, one must recognise this continuing process and where the client is on this pathway. Breastfeeding may extend the timeframe and has its own unique effect.

The wider community often underestimates the time of expected return to “normal” often leaving women with unrealistic expectations of their body, health, relationships and identity.

The workshop will cover the following key points.

Pregnancy to Post-partum change
Physiology of breastfeeding and postural considerations to manual and natural therapists
Common musculoskeletal presentations – treatment and management
Adapting your current skills to the post-partum patient
Supporting the mother baby relationship
Pelvic floor dysfunction, activation and strengthening
Medical red flags and indicators for referral

I look forward to sharing and learning together in a supportive and caring environment.
