Description

Understanding (& Nailing) Recruitment Marketing

Event overview:
Successfully attracting great talent can no longer come down to just a well-crafted ad, on a popular job board with some carefully considered descriptions of the role and company. Those post and pray tactics are a thing of the past and we’re increasingly hearing of the value and importance of recruitment marketing - a more strategic and creative method of attracting the best candidates.

Much like the consumer marketing concept, we’re used to, recruitment marketing is essentially the practice of getting in front of our talent targets before they even know they’re interested in our brand. Can traditional marketers teach us how it’s done, do we need to align our recruitment marketing with our broader brand messaging, or should we separate the two entirely?

Agenda:

5.00 - 5.30pm - Arrival networking and drinks

5.30 - 6.05pm - Panel discussion and Q&A

6.05- 7.30pm - Networking

Host:

Sarah Blackmore - Senior Director, People, Eventbase

Sarah has over 15 years experience running People and Recruitment teams for some of Vancouver's most interesting companies including Bench Accounting, Eventbase and Saje Natural Wellness; high growth is her middle name (but actually it's Jane).

She is a future of work evangelist and believes that "HR" isn't a dirty word (it is actually best job in the world). She also believes that real people need to hear real things, and that being part of someone else's journey to greatness is an honour.

Speakers:

Sim Tatla - Senior Talent Acquisition Partner, PayByPhone

Tia Fomenoff - Director of People and Culture, Thinkific

Tia has always loved helping others solve their problems, whether she’s placing people in their dream jobs, working with customers to make more money, guiding small businesses on the uses of social media or even recommending great restaurants to acquaintances.

Her career began up north in the non-profit and tourism industries, then shifted to focus on digital marketing and customer success at high-growth tech companies Unbounce and Buffer. Tia is now the Director of People and Culture at Thinkific, where they build software that enables entrepreneurs to create, market, sell, and deliver their own online courses...

Outside of work, Tia can often be found organizing local Tech Ladies® meetups, hiking with her husky, and consuming excessive amounts of cheese and chocolate.

Shirley Andriesh - Head of People Operations, 1QBit

Shirley is a People and Operations professional with over a decade of experience who takes pride in the fact that she is not a traditional HR practitioner. Over the course of her career, she has held a diverse set of roles working in the high-tech industry, the public sector, wholesale, and health care.

During her time at DHX Media (formerly Nerd Corps Entertainment), Shirley established a flexible, efficient, and strategic HR and recruiting infrastructure which accounted for industry economics, organizational health, and immigration law policies and procedures. Using this infrastructure, she was able to implement best practices and foster a work environment that attracted and retained high-performing talent. This groundwork played an integral role when she helped the studio scale from 100 employees to 400+ employees within a period of ten months.

In her current role as Head of People Operations at 1QBit, Shirley has built the People Operations infrastructure from scratch, while scaling the organization from 30 people to 100+. Shirley and the People Operations team champion the 1QBit team’s specific needs, continual process improvements, and organizational development. Beyond the day to day, Shirley is extremely passionate about strategic planning and organizational development, business analytics, change management and process improvement and implementation.
