Understanding guardianship & administration

Guardianship and administration orders can be made for an adult who is unable to make reasonable judgements because of disability. A guardian can make personal and lifestyle decisions and an administrator can make financial decisions. This education session is aimed at professionals working in health, mental health, community and aged care settings. It will cover information on the protective measures of guardianship and administration and the VCAT process for appointing a guardian or administrator. The role of guardians from the Office of the Public Advocate and consideration of less restrictive options will also be explored.
There will be opportunity for participants to ask questions
Car parking is very limited. There is short-term metered parking in surrounding streets. There is also a car park underneath the building , but spaces are limited, particularly later in the day.
Participants are encouraged to use public transport:
- Trams along Swanston St. towards Melbourne University, to stop-3 Lincoln Square, take Pelham Street and walk through Argyle Square towards 204 Lygon Street
- Closest stations are Parliament or Melbourne Central
- A number of bus routes travel along Lygon St.
