Learn about causes of financial hardship in, how the economic squeeze is changing our client cohort & their increasing support needs.

Are you a member or volunteer of St Vincent de Paul Society and want to have more informed financial conversations with the people you assist? Then this session is perfect for you!

Our 1.5 hour workshop is designed to offer comprehensive & relevant training for people in a client facing role to understand the rapidly changing pressures experienced by our clients.

Understanding Financial Hardship offers insights into the financial pressures Australia is experiencing & why more & more Australians experiencing financially hardship.

This session will guide you through:

  • What is financial wellbeing & financial hardship?
  • How our own money mindset impacts how we work with clients.
  • Defining economic harm & warning signs to look out for.
  • How to build rapport with clients to discuss personal subject such as their money!
  • Financial hardship conversation starters.
  • Resources & referral pathways.

When: Wednesday 1st April, 3.00pm to 4.30pm, with Q&A to follow.

This session will be conducted in a hybrid format, with the opportunity for people join via your laptop on Zoom OR through one of these centres:

  • Wagga Wagga, Peter St Boardroom.
  • Albury, St Clare's Care & Support Meeting Room.
  • Wollongong, Central Council Support Office, Level 1, 250 Cowper Street, Warrawong.

Your trainer is Kathy Nemeth who has worked throughout her career in the community sector, including 18 years in financial inclusion supporting clients, workers and community organisations to deliver professional & informed practice.
