Event description
An incredible opportunity for all photographers, regardless of camera brand to join our expert team for a photographic sleepover.

About this Event

Diamonds cameras, in association with Sony and Skywatcher have created a unique photographic experience encompassing several areas of photography from wildlife and landscape to the incredibly challenging astro photography all packaged in an unforgettable session.

Our location is Monarto Safari Park, the largest open range safari park in the Southern hemisphere.

Our session officially begins at 2pm at the Monarto visitor centre, although your ticket allows you entry earlier if you wish. We will make time to visit both the giraffes and chimps before the next stage of the event.

At 4pm we will be joined by our own Monarto guide who will lead us in our cars to Indaba, our campsite and base for the night. We will set up our tents and prepare for the evening ahead before dinner is served.

After dinner we will set up our tripods and other equipment during the last of the daylight, this is a perfect opportunity to ask any additional questions from our team.

The sun sets at 8pm and then the magic begins. Over a 3 hour period we will have:

The milky way on our horizon as a beautiful galaxy arch.

Jupiter, Saturn and Venus will all be visible.

The Southern sky constellations, large and small Magellanic clouds.

The rising constellations of Orion, Taurus and the cluster Pleiades.

We will shoot into the night and our team will be with you the whole time with tips and technical advice to ensure you capture the most amazing images possible.

You can shoot for as long as you please and when you feel the need to rest simply take to your tent for some well earned sleep.

Sunrise is at 6 am and for those of you still keen to shoot we will capture the sunrise while listening to the dawn chorus of animals.

We will have breakfast together and our astro expert Will Godward can talk about his preferred methods of post production to ensure your images really reflect the time and effort you have put into them.

Our session concludes at 10 am back at the visitors center at which point you are free to head home or stick around for longer and take the tour bus through the heart of the park to spot lions, hyenas and zebras and of course visiting the baby white rhino at the boma.
