Event description
Join us for this free workshop - Introduction to the Applications of Hylogger Data

About this event

This workshop will provide an introduction into using Hylogger hyperspectral datasets for informing geological logging and unravelling alteration mineralogy. The aim is to show geologists that there is a lot you can do with HyLogger datasets with only a little bit of hyperspectral mineralogy and TSG expertise. The workshop will include a brief introduction to the NVCL and hyperspectral mineralogy, but the focus will be on the practical applications of working with HyLogger data in TSG, using a drill core dataset from the core viewing session as a case study.

The workshop is recommended for anyone interested in working with HyLogger datasets, and no previous hyperspectral mineralogy experience is required.

Laptops: We encourage you to bring your laptop to participate in the hands-on TSG component of the workshop.

Software: Temporary TSG licences will be provided to all participants and will be active for the week of the workshop.

Presenters:

Georgina Gordon works as a senior geologist at the Geological Survey of South Australia, and as the leader of AuScope's National Virtual Core Library - SA Node. She currently leads the development of spectral geoscience and non-destructive testing methods based in the Woodall Laboratory in the DEM Drill Core Reference Library. Her main work is focussed on the interpretation of spectral mineralogy produced by non-destructive analytical methods, and modelling alteration surrounding mineral deposits or broader prospective regions across South Australia.

Jess Stromberg is a research scientist and team leader of the Mineral Footprints Team in CSIRO Mineral Resources (CMR), based in Perth. She is a geologist who works across multiple commodities developing hyperspectral and geochemical techniques and applications for industry challenges. Jess also leads the outreach and training activity of the AuScope National Virtual Core Library.
