Leadership - Leading Transformation, Tribes and Thinking

Tuesday, 4th September, 8 - 12pm (Registration from 8 - 8.30am)

RAC WA, 832 Wellington Street, West Perth

Who is this session for?

  • NFP Board Chairs and Directors
  • NFP Senior Management
  • Aspiring Board Directors
  • Academics, Professionals and Students

What is this Unconvention about?

Leadership is vital to a high performing NFP board. Leadership and board dynamics contributes to effective and ethical board behaviour, conversations and decision making.  Do your board directors show effective leadership?  And what do we mean by effective leadership on a NFP board?  How does diversity and inclusion influence leadership on boards?

Given the focus on the Royal Banking Commission comes interesting questions about board governance and leadership.  Should Non Executive Directors be full time in their governance role?  How many NED roles should one person hold? What is the role of ethics in leadership and governance? What are the behaviours of effective board directors?

In this Unconvention, get ready to:

  • define what effective leadership is on a board, for all board directors not just the board chair.
  • come away with practical strategies and practices to improve your leadership capabilities on a board.
  • understand how diversity on boards can drive better results

Thank you to the RAC WA for hosting this Unconvention.

What is an Unconvention?

An Unconvention is a cross-sector, intergenerational forum for Board and Community Leaders to meet, exchange information, discuss, network and collaborate on topical issues relating to Board governance, leadership and age diversity on Boards. Unconventions are typically half day workshops.

Productive, energetic and challenging, the agenda may include fishbowl activity, facilitated conversations, ignite presentations, speaker debates, panel discussions and networking opportunities. Unconventions also utilise the wisdom of keynote speakers, giving attendees the opportunity to hear from some of WA’s most influential community, leadership and governance experts who share their personal insights into new and emerging themes within the aged care, government, education and community sector.
