Event description

Description

The challenges and opportunities presented by growing urban populations, emerging technologies and business models, and evolving customer needs will define mobility in the 21st century and be central to the careers of young transport professionals.

The 2018 UITPANZ Young Transport Professionals’ Seminar in Sydney will bring together emerging leaders within the transport sector to connect, network and learn.

Come and hear from keynote speaker Rodd Staples, Secretary of Transport for NSW, international keynote Colin Lim, CEO of MobilityX, Marg Prendergast, Coordinator General at TfNSW, and other speakers (see more below).

The theme for this year’s Seminar is ‘The Future of Mobility in Australia and New Zealand'. With keynote addresses and presentations from across Australia, attendees will learn about the ideas and issues that will define the future of mobility from transport executives, expert presentations and panel discussions. The Young Transport Professionals Seminar will include topics on integrated mobility, the role of data, customer experience, mobility as a service, as well as reflections from senior executives responsible for major transport portfolios.

Designed for young professionals under 35 years or 5 years experience, the interactive seminar will also include the launch of the TAG Young Transport Professionals Bursary to attend the 2019 Global Public Transport Summit in Stockholm.

This year’s Seminar will be held on Wednesday 31 October 2018 at PwC’s Barangaroo office.

Marion Terrill, Transport Program Director, Grattan Institute

Transport in Australian Cities

With population booming in many Australian cities, politicians are searching for ways to bust congestion. But in the past five years, the impact of rapid population growth on commuting has been remarkably benign. Marion Terrill will explain how city-dwellers have been adapting, through changes in where we live, where we work and how we get between them.

Peter Hammond, Partner, PwC

Funding the Future

With increasing populations and declining revenues, the funding of transport infrastructure and services is under pressure. Peter Hammond, Partner at PwC, will set out a vision for sustainable approaches to funding transport in Australia.

Kathy Lazanas, Chief Customer & Communications Officer, Transdev Australasia

Bringing the Customer on the Journey

Transforming transport has to be both for the customer and with the customer. In the final presentation of the day, Kathy Lazanas will outline how public transport systems can operate to deliver a great customer experience, and how we use data to better understand and meet customer needs.

New Zealand’s Urban Mobility Journey – Past, Present and Future

Claire Pascoe will share experiences from the Urban Cycleways Programme, launched in 2015, that saw the acceleration of $333m for cycling infrastructure in NZ.
