Event description

Description

UHack is Tasmania's innovation hackathon competition - run for student and public innovators - by students and staff from the University of Tasmania.

UHack is running simultaneously in Hobart, Launceston and Burnie over the weekend of Friday 8 September - Sunday 10 September 2017. UHack is open to the public and students.

Register a team, and compete over a weekend to develop a software application, a business model and a pitch video, which are presented at the end to our panel of judges. What you develop is up to you – all we ask is you identify an opportunity or solve a problem or need that aligns with the University's research themes.

First place prize is valued at $6,000, second place prize is valued at $4,000 and third place prize is valued at $2,000. There are both Open (public) and Student divisions.

UHack is not all about programming – it’s also about identifying problems and opportunities, developing a business model, and putting together a pitch video that summarises your project.

Please note that UHack is a team-based event. We recommend your team is well rounded, with business as well as programming skills. Team sizes should be between 4 and 6 people.

Instructions for teams: If you are entering a team, make sure you choose the team option after clicking Register. If necessary create a team, register the team, and then select the number of tickets for your team required. Fill in the details for each of your team members.

Important - what to do if you don't have a team: If you don't have a team but wish to enter UHack, please attend one of our upcoming UHack meet-up events where you'll have the chance to meet other people and form a team. We'll publish the details of the meet-ups during August on the UHack website and Facebook. Alternatively, use our Facebook page to contact other people who might like to form a team with you. Please note that we can't guarantee that you'll be placed in a team - but we'll try during the meetup! You will need to be part of a team to compete in UHack.
