Please feel free to forward this request to any alumni living in Vietnam you think we may have missed.

Keynote Speaker

Professor Roland Goecke presents: Humanising AI - Opportunities in the 4th Industrial Revolution

ICT, Information systems and engineering, from data analytics to robotics via artificial intelligence, lie at the heart of the 4th Industrial Revolution. Our understanding of the way we, as humans, come to deal with technology is vital to the shape of our future. A burning question of our time is how we as humans will prosper in a world where AI, data analytics, robotics and technology pervade virtually every aspect of our lives.

How will we live, work and collaborate with machines in a way that benefits humanity? In 2017, Deloitte predicted that 47% of today’s jobs will be gone in 10 years. At the same time, entirely new jobs will be created, some of which we cannot even imagine yet.

As AI, robotics, and cognitive tools grow in sophistication, almost every job is being reinvented. It is, thus, imperative that research in such technology goes hand-in-hand with research in the societal impacts – in fact, humanising AI.

In this talk, Professor Roland Goecke will give an overview over some of our recent research in AI and related technologies at the University of Canberra.
