Description

Digital Technologies and STEAM Projects for Hour-of-Code and Hour-of-Robot.

Make 2020 your Year of Digitech, Design Thinking, ICT Integration, Computational Change-Making and get ready showcasing your student's projects, 3D designs, investigations, and explorations in STANSW Young Scientist, Young ICT Explorers, Young Creators Conference, ANSTO Top Coder

Begin new conversations and connections using the concept of 4P's (Projects, Passion, Peers, and Play). Use the hashtag #mobiliseyourtribe and tweet your favourite hactivities for jumpstarting plugged and unplugged computational thinking and creative robotics.

We want to hear from YOU and other like-minded educators - tell us what are you particularly curious or excited about, and why?

Hands-on workshops and resources, robotics for creativity, computational and design thinking ideas:

  1. Unpack the Australian Computer Academy's resources - Professional development of primary teachers in computational thinking to bring coding and computer science to schools to solve real-world problems with technology.

  2. Get a great introduction to the world of physical computing and robotics. Use code to control electronic components such as lights and buzzers with the ThinkerShield and a standard Arduino board.

  3. Use the processes mapped out in MIT Media Lab’s Creative Learning Spiral, to design your own mini-invention using littleBits, before heading out into the Discovery Centre to find an object that relates to your invention through design or function.

  4. Learn to program smart robots using Mbots! These little robots contain a range of motors and sensors that can be programmed to beep, flashlights, follow lines, and even avoid obstacles!

  5. Launch of Sphero RVR and Sphero Edu Academy for Education Fundamentals, Curriculum, and Integration.

  6. Special Celebrity Guest Appearances, Debates - Robots and AI in Education - What’s the Evidence? Prizes, Games, and Challenges.

  • In-school showcases and inter-school-competitions ideas for disruptors and makers in 2020.

  • FIRST LEGO League, Make X and Wonder League Classroom, Dash and Cue.

  • Girls Programming Network Tutor and Tech Girls are Superheroes

  • Osmo for schools, Micro:bits, Minecraft, Makecode, Everyone-can-Code, Sphero Bolt and Specdrums.
