Event description

Description

PRESENTER: AMY FARNDALE

Amy has been an early years teacher in preschools and reception classes for the past 20 years. She has taught in the UK, Kenya, France and Australia and is now an early years language and literacy lecturer at UniSA, where she draws from her PhD and research interests in supporting bilingual preschoolers' language development.

Amy encourages imagination and inclusive literacy teaching for the diversity of children in our preschools, such as children with autism spectrum disorder diagnosis, Aboriginal early entry children, and children who are considered to be shy, as well as the confident chatty children.

In this EChO session, Amy will share her learning from her recent involvement in an action research project on 'Children's story creation with community involvement'. She will focus on how children represent their world symbolically, create narrative texts and use their many languages to express ideas.

Dress comfortably to get involved in imaginative activities involving boxes, block play, relaxation, visualisation, puppets, books, and story creation for yourselves.
