Twilight flames: glass blowing by a Venetian master
Sat. 18 February 2017, 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm AEDT
Internationally renowned Venetian master glass blower Davide Penso will light up his torch at Leura Park Estate to blow pieces of spectacular glass art. Davide lives and works on the island of Murano (Venice, Italy), which has been famed for centuries for its glass art. As he creates his beautiful glass art, Davide will talk about Murano, its history and its reputation. Each unique piece he creates will be sold by auction on the night.
This is a unique opportunity to meet a charismatic and highly skilled glass master and watch him work, while enjoying wonderful food and wine from the Bellarine Peninsula.
"Twilight Flames" is part of the annual Festival of Glass, held in the Drysdale area during February. The next day (Sunday 19th February 2017) sees the Festival of Glass Expo at Christian College, Drysdale, featuring displays by 40+ glass artists and craftspeople, demonstrations of glass working techniques, the Glass Art Awards and much more.
