Event description

Description

Step out in vintage style on a gentle, 20km cycling adventure through glorious wine country, interspersed with three incredible food and wine experiences.

Now in its eighth year, the Tweed Ride will feature bubbles and brunch inspired by wild food flavours at Rutherglen Estates’ new Cellar Door, a picnic of local and foraged produce by The Pickled Sisters Cafe with handcrafted wines at Valhalla Wines, and a sweet and savoury afternoon tea by local patisserie Zest Studio with Correll and Muscat spritzers at Jones Winery.

All chaps, dandies and bon vivants are invited to join in a weekend of cycling revelry, divine food and vintage fashion. Tweed jackets, plaid skirts, bowler hats and retro bikes are all welcome!

About Rutherglen Estates

Rutherglen Estates was conceived with the ambition to simply redefine the world’s best fortified-producing region, by producing premium table wines based on traditional, Mediterranean and alternative varietals. Originally built as cellars in 1886, the Rutherglen Estates Cellar Door and Tuileries Complex also houses a cafe, five-star restaurant, luxury accommodation and conference facility and art gallery. Opened in late 2017, the Aboriginal Exhibitions Gallery is a unique joint venture between Rutherglen Estates and Australian Aboriginal art collector Hans Sip, operating as a commercial art gallery where visitors can enjoy free entry to curated exhibitions presented quarterly.

About Valhalla Wines
Anton at Valhalla Wines handcrafts his wines using natural vineyard practices, traditional winemaking methods and careful cellaring in the strawbale winery. Premium Rhone Valley varietals including Marsanne, Grenache, Shiraz, Mourvedre and Durif are the focus for their great food matching capabilities as well as their high suitability to the Rutherglen climate. Valhalla has a focus on environmental sustainability, crafting wines that express the true nature of Rutherglen and the North East.

About The Pickled Sisters Cafe
Located in the rustic surrounds of Cofield Wines, we offer a relaxed and welcoming dining experience. Dine alfresco on our deck, indulging in the finest regional produce matched to fabulous local wines. Gourmet produce and hampers are also available, and cooking schools are held monthly. Perfect for weddings and functions. Stay overnight onsite with our Grapevine Glamping.

About Jones Winery & Vineyard
The team at Jones Winery & Vineyard are real people with real vineyards, making real wines and serving real food in their restaurant. They are lucky to own one of the most beautiful little cellar doors and restaurants in Victoria, dating back to the 1860s. Mandy Jones, a 5th-generation winemaker, is a modernist in her approach to handcrafting wines from grapes grown by her brother, Arthur. Their wines have power and brightness of fruit that could only be made from their very own patch of Rutherglen dirt. The restaurant serves food themed on those wonderful simple dishes found in French cafés. Using seasonal local produce, lunch options may include confit duck, croque monsieur and chocolate tart.

About Zest Studio
Zest Studio is a patisserie and bespoke cake decorating business located in Rutherglen.
