Event description

Description

This workshop is for prospective or currently employed early career tutors working in the Social Sciences who want to learn more about what is involved in tutoring and / or further developing their teaching skills. The workshop will include hints and tips for teaching in a University setting based on the facilitator’s experiences as both a course co-ordinator and casual tutor in Anthropology. Topics covered will include classroom management, lesson preparation / pedagogy and professional development. Participants will be able to ask advice from peers, share experiences and work through some common problem scenarios to reflect on best teaching practice.

Facilitator:

Dr. Dianne Rodger is a Scholarly Teaching Fellow in the Department of Anthropology and Development Studies at the University of Adelaide. She first began tutoring whilst completing her PhD in Anthropology in 2008, and was recently awarded, by the University of Adelaide, a 2018 ‘Faculty of Arts Prize for Excellence in Teaching’.
