Turramurra Music Camp 2019

Situated in a beautiful valley in the Otway Ranges the Turramurra Folk Music Bush Camp gives people of all ages the opportunity to enjoy music, dance and art from a variety of traditions in a supportive community setting. The camp strives to run sustainably and in harmony with the natural surroundings.

There will be opportunities to play and perform in groups of all shapes and sizes, so bring along your voice, instruments, ideas and musical energy, and prepare to have fun!

Join a workshop led by one of our talented tutors, enjoy a jam session, dust off your old skills, try something new, or just relax amongst the trees and soak it all up. Great for families and the perfect way to prepare for the start of another year.

In addition to the usual range of instrumental and singing workshops, in 2019 we will focus on story telling through music, spoken word and theatre. From Persian storytelling to traditional Australian culture, the importance of bearing and passing on stories will be at the heart of our program this year.

The Camp is held at ‘Wildwood Retreat', situated along Pennyroyal Creek Valley on the northern fringe of the Otway Ranges. Facilities include camping (unpowered), swimming pool and communal barbeques. Limited bunkhouse accommodation is available in shared rooms. Alternative accommodation is available at local cabins and cottages (separate booking required).

Apologies to canine lovers but this is a dog-free event.

FIRE PRECAUTIONS: The camp is held in the Bushfire season so we must be prepared. We have a fire precaution and response plan, involving close monitoring of fire conditions and communication with the CFA. In the event of a Fire Emergency or Extreme Fire Danger Rating the organisers reserve the right to cancel or postpone the start of the camp at short notice and may instruct participants to relocate once the camp has started based on advice from Emergency Services. In the event of cancellation the organisers will refund as much of the camp fee and meal payments as possible but can make no guarantees.
