TURNING THE TIDE – SUICIDE PREVENTION FORUM
Suicide is at a 10 year high with 2,864 Australians taking their own life in 2014. This figure is more than double the road toll and there are too many families and communities experiencing the loss of loved ones, friends and colleagues.
In February 2016 the Macarthur Suicide Prevention Network was formed to help reduce the incidence of suicides in Macarthur. Our purpose is to bring together health, education, safety professionals and community members to help save lives through best practices strategies.
Please join us for a community forum to discuss any thoughts, ideas and concerns regarding suicide in Macarthur.
Topics discussed may include:
How we may increase the wellbeing, resilience and social connectedness of the entire community.
Improve the capacity of the entire community to identify and support members who are experiencing high levels of distress, mental health difficulties or suicidal ideation.
Improve the community’s knowledge of services and organisations that can provide support and assistance to vulnerable people by helping to connect them with these services and oroganisations if needed.
