Turning Challenges Into Opportunities: Lead Mama Lead community workshop
Event Information
Description
Are you worried about your career after having children? Are you frustrated by a lack of opportunities since returning to work? Do you want to find meaningful career-worthy work that gives you more time with your family? Are you trying to get back into the workforce after years away and worried about overcoming this hurdle? Or are you thinking about having children soon and wondering how you might fit your career ambitions and your family ambitions together?
These are the questions that we are Lead Mama Lead want to tackle head on. Will you join us?
We believe that the modern workplace is not working for most families and that the workplace needs to evolve so that all working parents can have a meaningful career, whilst also meeting the unpaid needs of caring work. But this kind of change doesn't happen easily. Most of us face challenges now, and we will continue to face challenges as we try to fit together meaningful work AND meaningful time for family and community.
Our Challenges Are Our Opportunities
Challenges can be dark and disheartening when we are living them. But they also present us with an extraordinary opportunity for growth and renewal. With determination and a community of support, challenges offer us a chance to dig deep, grow, and develop our personal leadership.
Using a strength-based approach, this workshop will reframe the way you view challenges in your career. Not just experiences to be endured, but opportunities to pivot onto something that better suits your needs and aspirations, or to reform the system that is holding you back.
In this workshop you will:
1. Be Inspired: Hear from two speakers, Kristin Blume and Summer Edwards, who have turned their career challenges and frustrations into opportunities for growth, and whose stories can inspire your own journey
2. See Yourself in a New Light: Uncover your strengths, and you own past experiences overcoming challenges, to reframe the challenges that you currently face
3. Build Your Community: Through a faciliated peer-to-peer learning process, learn from, and be supported by, fellow mamas who have faced the same frustrations that you have
Lead Mama Lead uses a peer-based learning and mentoring model to be bring unique workshops that enable you explore your leadership potential. Our workshops create opportunities for genuine connection and collaboration with fellow mamas. We are a welcoming and supportive community which aims to support mothers to connect with and learn from our peers, and be empowered in our mothering and our leadership journeys.
The challenges we face as working mothers are systemic. Through community we can find our strength to change and grow, and force the workplace to start meeting our needs and aspirations. Join us for an inspiring evening as we formally launch the Lead Mama Lead community in Canberra.
