Event description
SUMMIT POSTPONED DUE TO COVID-19 (CORONAVIRUS) CONCERNS. REGISTER YOUR INTEREST AND WE WILL KEEP YOU UPDATED ON NEW DATES AND DETAILS

About this Event

Unfortunately due to COVID-19 (Coronavirus) concerns and in order to keep our guests, speakers and community members safe, we will be postponing the Summit. We will wait for further information and instruction on COVID-19 before rescheduling the Summit and if you have registered your interest, you will be automatically contacted as soon as a new date has been confirmed. If you have any questions regarding the postponement of the Summit, please email communications@belong.org.nz

If you’re a changemaker wanting to make a positive difference to the settlement journeys of resettled communities (people from refugees backgrounds - Quota, Convention, Family Reunification and Asylum Seekers), register your interest in attending.

For resettled communities, Tūmanako means to wish for and hope for a better future for their families and communities in Aotearoa, after experiencing conflict, disaster, persecution, violence and violations of human rights in their past.

The two-day summit will create a space for changemakers to turn hopes and wishes into solutions that build recognition and understanding of resettled communities, and grow and strengthen connections, inclusion and belonging across Aotearoa. The Summit will support stronger relationships, partnerships and coordination for positive change.

Who should attend:

Changemakers across central and local government, service providers, NGOs, the resettled community sector and resettled communities.

What's on offer:

Day 1:

• Exciting keynote address (stay tuned!)

• Launch of the ‘Tūmanako - Table of Hope’ community-centred model of practice from Aotearoa Resettled Community Coalition.

• Cross-sector presentations from government, service provider/agencies, funders on their work (the successes and struggles) to support and enable positive resettlement journeys, with Q&A.

• Facilitated panel of resettled community leaders/members sharing their knowledge and perspectives, drawn from lived experience.

• Networking opportunities to grow and strengthen connections nationally.

• Delicious kai (of course)!

Day 2:

• Exciting keynote address (stay tuned!)

• Interactive session with resettled community members sharing their diverse stories of resettlement, integration and belonging, in their own words, using their own voices, with Q&A.

• Interactive, facilitated session to support changemakers to reflect on their role and practice, and leverage their power, to create real and lasting systemic change.

• More delicious kai!
