Event description

Description

Tully Arnot’s work explores the effect that contemporary technology has on human relationships – from interpersonal communication though social media and touch screens to human-robot interactions though AI and companionship robots.

In this workshop with Clothing Store artist in residence, Tully Arnot, participants are given a brief background to the use of robotics in contemporary art, and explore the creative potential of technology and everyday recycled materials. Arnot presents previous works, deconstructs the circuitry and mechanics of his artworks and provides an overview of Arduino microcontroller technology, simple sensors and low voltage electronic motors.

Bring your own pizza box and build a simple robotic hand from recycled cardboard, learn how to write and upload an Arduino sketch, construct a simple circuit and use basic mechanical techniques to achieve different forms of motion.
