Description

Please note new location, Barolo Trattoria Camberwell. We apologise for the inconvenience, the function room is upstairs & there is no lift.

*Please note that there is NO SET BOOK for our Book Club! You may come & just listen, or talk about whatever you have recently been reading - no pressure, just books!*

Our guest authors for Tuesday May 1st are:

Katherine Boland - memoir/travel narrative

Hippy Days, Arabian Nights: A Memoir From Life in the Bush to Love on the Nile

Spanning five decades and as many continents, Hippy Days, Arabian Nights is a funny, moving and compelling story of a woman whose extraordinary life will never be summerised by the words 'could have' or 'should have'. Whether it's following her dreams or chasing matters of the heart, from the outset Australian artist Katherine Boland has grabbed life by the throat and jumped in feet first. www.katherineboland.com

Elizabeth Jane Corbett - historical fiction (CBCA Notable title older readers)

"Born in Essex to a Welsh mother and an English father, I’ve spent all but nine years of my life living in Australia. Yet, for some reason, I’ve never been sure quite where I belong. This isn’t surprising. I’ve always been indecisive. Nevertheless, it does strike me as ungrateful. I should be able to put my hand to my heart and say: I’m Australian. I can’t – and, as I’ve worked hard to eliminate ‘shoulds’ from my cognitions, this has lead to tedious explanations. In the end, I’ve settled for hanner Cymraes. That’s right – half Welsh woman."

Published novel: The Tides Between

Mira Robertson - Australian fiction

Mira Robertson is an award-winning screenwriter who has also published short fiction. Her feature film credits include the multi award winning films Only the Brave and Head On, co-written with director Ana Kokkinos.

The Unexpected Education of Emily Dean is her first novel. She lives in Melbourne.

We will provide some finger foods and beverages/tea/coffee on the night, as well as some giveaways supplied by publishers. The cost for each evening will be $15.00 all inclusive.

Please join us by booking a ticket here, or via camberwell@dymocks.com.au, or in store. Doors open 6.30pm for a 6.45pm start.

Dymocks Camberwell celebrated 2012 The National Year of Reading with the inauguration of our very own First Tuesday Book Club, each month.

We start the evening by talking about our favourite novels, both new & older ones. We will ask participants to comment about books they have read or are reading, just like a normal book club. We won’t be setting a monthly book, as we want to hear about as many books as possible, including old favourites. You may just want to listen at times and hear about other people’s experiences with their books. It is totally up to you!
