Description

Please note new location, Barolo Trattoria Camberwell. We apologise for the inconvenience, the function room is upstairs & there is no lift.

*Please note that there is NO SET BOOK for our Book Club! You may come & just listen, or talk about whatever you have recently been reading - no pressure, just books!*

Our guest authors for Tuesday March 6th are:

Elizabeth Jane Corbett - CANCELLED FOR NOW!

Elizabeth passed on her apologies & regrets, but due to an awful family tragedy, is unable to attend on 6th March.

Bram Presser - Australian fiction, The Book of Dirt

Semi-reformed punk rocker, recovering academic, occasional criminal lawyer and one-time cartoon character, Bram Presser was born in Melbourne in 1976. He writes the blog Bait For Bookworms and is a founding member of Melbourne Jewish Book Week. His stories have appeared in Vice Magazine, The Sleepers Almanac, Best Australian Stories, Award Winning Australian Writing and Higher Arc. In 2011, Bram won The Age Short Story Award.

The Book of Dirt is a completely original novel about love, family secrets, and Jewish myths. And it is a heart-warming story about a grandson’s devotion to the power of storytelling and his family’s legacy.

Heather Morris - Australian fiction (but based on a true story), The Tattooist of Auschwitz

Heather - I am a Native of New Zealand now resident in Australia, working in a large public hospital in Melbourne. For several years I studied and wrote screenplays, one of which was optioned by an academy award winning Screenwriter in the U.S. In 2003, I was introduced to an elderly gentleman "who might just have a story worth telling".

The day I met Lale Sokolov changed my life, as our friendship grew and he embarked on a journey of self scrutiny, entrusting the inner most details of his life during the Holocaust. I originally wrote Lale's story as a screenplay - which ranked high in international competitions - before reshaping it into my debut novel, The Tattooist of Auschwitz.

We will provide some finger foods and beverages/tea/coffee on the night, as well as some giveaways supplied by publishers. The cost for each evening will be $15.00 all inclusive.

Please join us by booking a ticket here, or via camberwell@dymocks.com.au, or in store. Doors open 6.30pm for a 6.45pm start.

Dymocks Camberwell celebrated 2012 The National Year of Reading with the inauguration of our very own First Tuesday Book Club, each month.

We start the evening by talking about our favourite novels, both new & older ones. We will ask participants to comment about books they have read or are reading, just like a normal book club. We won’t be setting a monthly book, as we want to hear about as many books as possible, including old favourites. You may just want to listen at times and hear about other people’s experiences with their books. It is totally up to you!
