JOURNEY THROUGH THE NEW TESTAMENT

New Testament School | TBC

3 TUESDAY NIGHTS 6:30PM - 9PM

TEACHERS | Justin Cloherty & Phil Mason

Justin and Phil are passionate trainers and equippers with a passion for the word of God and helping students to discover and unlock the richness of the word of God. This school is designed to take students on a journey into the history and theology of the New Testament.

Session 1 | Intertestamental period, Apocalyptic influence, Jewish Culture.

The voice of the Lord was silent for about 400 years until John the Baptist emerged. In this period Jewish culture was heavily influenced by the Apocalyptic genre of the time. Understanding this culture sheds light on the New Testament in particular the gospels.

Session 2 | The Synoptic Gospels: Mathew, Mark, Luke.

These three gospels share many of the same stories, yet communicate different themes to their different audiences. Exploring the life of Jesus through these three different lenses helps us communicate the gospel to the nations.

Session 3 | The Gospel of John.

John’s gospel shows a beautiful cosmic picture of Jesus. The one who was there in the beginning, yet intimately loves us. He is the son of God and if you’ve seen him you’ve seen God. And if you believe in him, he has the power to eternally save you. He is the great I am.

Session 4 | Christology: Jesus, The Cross, His Bride, and All Things New

Who is this King of Glory dying on a cross for His Bride to make all things new? Jesus is the central theme of scripture and of our lives and he is greater than we can understand or imagine. The work of the cross is far greater than Jesus dying for sin. He has come for His Bride and to make all things new so that He may be glorified.

Session 5 | Pauline Literature: Key themes and theology

Saul to Paul: How one man’s journey of faith was changed by an encounter with the Lord. Church planter, theologian, missionary, disciple maker, evangelist, preacher, small business owner. He influenced kings, prisoners, academics and nations. Other than Jesus, Paul’s apostolic message and lifestyle has had more impact on the church than any other

Session 6 | Eschatology

This is an extremely important theme in the Bible and clearly there are significant things that God wants us to know about the things to come. A solid understanding of biblical eschatology is foundational to the formation of a clear biblical worldview. Without such an understanding our worldview will be incomplete.
