Event Details

AILA Festival pass holders are invited to a rare opportunity to visit and hear from the Landscape Architects of the Translational Research Institute, designed by Wilson Architects + Donovan Hill Architects in Association.

The event, staged in the TRI Outdoor Room, will be a conversation with Wilson Architects' Director, Beth Wilson, who will discuss how the use of a large leafy atrium and subtropical plantings around and within TRI social spaces is conducive to providing a warm and inviting environment for the facility’s scientists, other staff and visitors.

Beth will reveal how TRI was conceived as a series of interconnected places to enable a community of research and the important role the integrated landscape architecture plays in encouraging interaction and collaboration.  A TRI Representative will also offer a short talk on the science that is being conducted in the building.

Following the talk, guests can explore the landscaped Outdoor Room and its diverse range of long lived ancient trees and plants.

Guests are to meet at the building entrance off the Diamantina Road forecourt.

Maximum 30 attendees. Booking essential.

**Please note the change of time to Saturday morning prior to the AILA Festival sessions. Please BYO coffee as the on-site cafe will not be open at this time.**

Wilson Architects as part of the Festival of Landscape Architecture

Wilson Architects are a design focused practice based in Brisbane, combining architecture, interior design and landscape architecture, creating exceptional places for people.  Founded by Alex B.Wilson, Wilson Architects has been in continuous practice since 1884, making it one of the world’s oldest continuous architectural practices.

Wilson Architects are nationally recognised for our expertise in the innovative design of contemporary teaching and learning environments, education planning and leading scientific and medical research laboratory design. Despite the specialist nature of education and laboratory design, our design philosophy is solution-based with a strong emphasis on sensory experiences and human responses to every project.  Likewise our strategic thinking is founded upon ongoing empirical research whereby design innovation is informed by evaluated outcomes.

At the heart of our design approach is the integration of landscape and architecture. We have been providing integrated landscape architecture services for more than 50 years. Our approach draws on our cultural and climatic traditions to blur the boundaries between architecture and nature.
