Description

How children process trauma depends on their age and level of development. By understanding how children experience traumatic events and how they express their lingering distress over the experience, early childhood educators can better respond and help them through these challenging times.

Evolve Therapeutic Services is offering early childhood education staff the opportunity to participate in a workshop specifically designed to meet the needs of early childhood educators and support staff who work with children who may have experienced trauma. This workshop will resource educators and others working with young children with ways to reflect on children’s behaviour, relationship patterns with care-givers and strategies to intervene with children in childcare settings.


Topics covered include:

  • Child Development in the Early Years
  • Recognising the Emotional Needs of Children in the Early Years
  • Trauma’s impact on Child Development in the Early Years
  • Recording Observations of Emotional Development in Children
  • Planning for working with traumatised children in Early Childhood settings
