Understand how trauma changes the neurobiology of a child and young persons brain and how to work effectively to support underlying needs.

About this Event

These interactive one-day workshops provide practitioners and students working within health, education, legal, welfare and community sectors with foundational knowledge and skills required to provide a trauma informed response which facilitates healing and empowerment.

Working from a trauma informed position is essential to foster trust, connection, agency, and empowerment.

The workshop will provide attendees with a greater understanding and confidence to:

  • Apply foundational principles of trauma-informed practice
  • Analyse the neurobiology of trauma and child development to reframe challenging emotions and behaviours as ‘adaptive’ responses to trauma
  • Facilitate trauma informed therapeutic approaches with children and adolescents that promote healing and self determination
  • Evaluate individual and organisational practice responses
  • Apply trauma informed care to self as practitioners
