Creating Calmer Communities with Trauma Awareness Training

About this Event

About this Event

Community of Calm Inc. offering the Northern Beaches community training and support in trauma awareness to promote a kinder, calmer community.

Our aim is to promote a calm, connected, considerate and caring community in Sydney’s Northern Beaches.

Are you interested in gaining knowledge and skills to work in trauma-aware ways and promote healthy and safe relationships with your clients, customers or students?

Trauma aware practitioners:

• promote safe, supportive and inclusive environments

• build better connections

• improve community resilience and wellbeing

• improve long-term health outcomes

• reach wider audiences

• have longer retention rates

Our goal is to offer all practitioners and community members the opportunity to become more trauma aware. This is relevant to any practitioner who works with adults who may have experienced trauma, such as health and wellbeing practitioners, yoga teachers, body workers, teachers, community service workers, and volunteers. Everyone is welcome to attend this training, there are no prerequisites.

The training will help you gain a broad understanding of how to apply a trauma informed lens to your practice to maximise positive outcomes for your clients. It will also help you to become trauma aware in any aspect of your life.

We are particularly interested for practitioners who are keen to be involved in the Arts for Wellness events that are hosted by Community of Calm throughout the year.

Did you know that Community of Calm Inc was is the proud recipient of the Northern Beaches, Australia Day Award, Community Event 2020 for our Arts for Wellness awareness campaign hosted during October 2019. These events offer opportunities for the whole community to experience a wide range of creative art therapies and activities.

The goal is to help improve our community wellbeing and create healthier lifestyles.

Stress levels are rife across our beautiful Northern Beaches. We all know someone who:

  • has been impacted by some kind of trauma
  • is living with overwhelming anxiety
  • is coming to terms with grief and loss
  • endures social isolation and desires connection
  • could benefit from a calmer community

Research verifies that both trauma-informed practice and creative wellness activities practiced regularly improve long term health outcomes. Practitioners working with a trauma aware lens reach more community members by improving retention rates, return rates, referral rates, group cohesion, and community connections.

We welcome you to the training to find out more about trauma aware practice and how this can be applied in your world.
