The Big Picture Film Festival proudly presents "Trash", a movie that follows three Brazillian street teenagers in Rio de Janerio; Raphael, Gardo and Rat who spend their time picking through litter in the hope of finding useful waste. One day they discover a wallet whose contents will bring them into conflict with the brutal police force as they find themselves unlikely whistleblowers in a city rife with corruption. Rather than turn over the wallet to the authorities for a reward, they follow their faith-led belief to do what is right in the face of adversity. The teens persevere through unbearable challenges and circumstances.
The film stars Martin Sheen, Rooney Mara, Wagner Moura, Selton Mello, Rickson Tevez, Eduardo Luis and Gabriel Weinstein.
The film will be screened at the Event Cinemas, George Street, Sydney and will be followed by a short Q & A with Reverend Bill Crews.
