Event description

Description

Transitions is a free performance event as part of SKATE at the Cutaway.

Skateboarders, musicians, digital artists and Big hART’s creative team invite you to experience newly created sections from their ground-breaking new theatre show SKATE, currently being developed at the Cutaway, Barangaroo over six months.

Combining percussion, light, and sound with responsive technology, skateboarders trigger an interactive visual and sonic landscape, igniting a breathtaking sensory experience. At the conclusion of the showing, audience memebers will have the opportunity to ask questions to the creatives and skateboarders.

Afterwards, you are welcome to stay and skate in the Cutaway, so bring your skateboard for the Open Skate session running 7pm - 9pm.

SKATE at the Cutaway is supported by Barangaroo Delivery Authority.

FAQs

What do I need to bring?

If you plan to skate after the performance you must provide your own board and safety gear, it will not be supplied at this event. Make sure to wear enclosed shoes and bring a bottle of water.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

No however, patrons under 18 will require guardian consent.

Note that every person attending the event needs to register - so parents or guardians need to complete the form on behalf of each child attending.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Driving is an option, however we do recommend the ease of public transport as the Cutaway is so well connected by bus, train and ferry. Information on timetables can be found at https://transportnsw.info/

If you do wish to drive, parking is available. head to https://www.wilsonparking.com.au for further details.

I came to the event on Feb 23. Is this event different, and will future Transitions events be different?

Yes and yes. This time you get to see SKATE the show starting to take shape as a stage performance, bringing together skateboarding, soundscapes and imagery. You will watch this spectacle unfold, then you can skate the space afterwards. Future Transitions events will reveal new sections of the show each time.

Is there food and drink available for purchase?

Not currently, but there is a range of great dining options at the southern end of the Barangaroo precinct. You are welcome to bring food and non-alcoholic beverages into SKATE at the Cutaway.

Can I bring my scooter?

Open Skate is only for skateboarding however you may park your scooter on site. Please be advised that Big hART and Baragaroo Staff will not be responsible for any loss of possesions.

Can I bring my pet?

We love pets however, animals are not permitted in the Cutaway space with the exception to service animals.

Is there a spot to leave my pram?

Absolutely. We have a space where you can leave your pram or stroller however we are not responsible for any loss or damages to your personal belongings.
