Sydney Informatics Hub Westmead Data Bonanza



Transcriptomics


Synopsis: The purpose of this workshop will be to gain practical experience in carrying out a complete analysis of human transcriptomic data. Students will learn how to map short read 100 nt paired end Illumina sequencing data to a reference genome and transcriptome and carry out quality control, differential gene expression and pathway analysis using the University's Artemis HPC cluster and the R programming language.

Target audience: Students and staff who would like to learn fundamentals of R with a focus on transcriptomics

Essential pre-requisites: Previous experience with R, Unix, and Artemis is desirable, but NOT required, and the workshop will provide example code for running all of the analyses. If Windows operating system, please ensure your laptop has a terminal client installed. OWN LAPTOP REQUIRED. If a laptop is required let us know and we may be able to provide one for the training.
