Toy Libraries Australia Training Weekend & AGM 2018

Come along to the annual Toy Libraries Australia Training Weekend and Annual General Meeting (AGM) and meet other passionate people who love toy libraries as much as you do. We invite toy libraries from across the country to attend and encourage you to pass the event details to your committee.

Previous year’s events have been so popular that we’ve decided that this year’s training will be run over a whole weekend with tickets and activities as follows.:

Saturday 5th May

1pm - 4.30pm Bus Tour - Touring three - four Toy Libraries in the area, with lots of chatting and networking in between. Please note there are limited seats available but you are more than welcome to carpool and follow us around yourself to meet for the tours. Please select the correct ticket (bus or car) when booking. All toy libraries visited will be within half an hour of Kensington Town Hall.

5pm - 6.30pm - Recommending Toys Talk - How to recommend the right toys for the right child development stage. Recommended for session leaders, coordinators, TL managers and toy buyers.

7pm - Games, Pizza, and the inaugural Toy Library awards night! Play and test some of our best adult/big kid games, have some pizza and be present for the very first Toy Libraries Australia award night. Loads of fun and networking to be had...not too much though, as we'll have a big day of training ahead!

Our awards night is your chance to nominate someone (both volunteer and paid staff) who you think deserves recognition for the tireless work they do for their toy library, or nominate a toy library that that goes above and beyond for both its members and spreading the message of play within your community. Both big and small toy libraries have the chance to be recognised so get nominating!

Sunday 6th May

9.30am - 3.30pm

Participate in workshops and training covering a range of topics including using inclusive language in toy libraries, employing a paid coordinator, and a show-and-tell from our toy librarians up north, as well as everything in between.

Toy Community are also excited to offer some great specials from a range of suppliers, group buys and some amazing lucky door prizes as well as our popular TLA stickers and balloons. Keep an eye on the TLA group discussion page on Facebook for further details.

Lunch and morning tea will also be served and we are charging a small fee to help cover the costs of catering

The Toy Libraries Australia AGM will also be held on this day. Toy Libraries Australia is run by a passionate committee of volunteers who work hard to share toy library knowledge and improve the profile of toy libraries across Australia. Many of the current committee plan to stay on in some capacity as there are so many exciting opportunities and changes at present and we feel we have great momentum, but we would welcome some new faces on the team. We meet bimonthly on a weeknight in central Melbourne but have members from across Australia attend via video conferencing.
