Description

You are invited to attend the next Townsville Industry Breakfast – 5 June 2018.

Come along and hear from project leaders on future work and business opportunities in North Queensland!

Presentations include;

CPB CONTRACTORS - MATER HOSPITAL REDEVELOPMENT

CPB Contractors regional manager Carmelo Di Bella will share details about the Mater Health Services North Queensland Stage 1 Redevelopment, Pimlico campus. This $35 million design and construction project includes temporary and new car parks, new services infrastructure, and a new four-storey clinical building connected to the existing operational hospital. It also incorporates a medical imaging tenancy, a link to existing theatres, stage 1 surgery recovery suite, pre-operative patient preparation suite and an extensive refurbishment of existing operating theatres.

THE INFRASTRUCTURE GROUP - HAUGHTON RIVER FLOODPLAIN UPGRADE

The Infrastructure Group (TIG) Project Manager Campbell McCall will present on the current status of planning in preparation for delivering the $514.3 million Haughton River Floodplain Upgrade project. The project is progressing under a 'design and construct' model with an early contractor involvement, allowing TIG (a joint venture between Bielby Holdings, BMD Constructions, JF Hull, Albem Pty Ltd, ARUP Group and HDR Inc) to commence constructing the upgrades nine months earlier than expected. Construction is due to commence late 2018 and be completed mid 2021. The major road upgrade will see the replacement of three key bridges, realignment of the Reed Beds curve, upgrades to nine rural intersections, construction of two overpasses of cane tramway open level crossings, construction of 13.5km of pavement on a new alignment west of the existing highway, and the installation of wide centreline treatments.

WHITE HORSE AUSTRALIA - LINDEMAN ISLAND RESORT REDEVELOPMENT

The Lindeman Island Resort project involves the redevelopment of the existing resort at Lindeman Island into three world class tourist resorts with a day spa, tourist villas and village precinct. The island’s previous recreation facility, the Club Med Resort, closed in January 2012 after being significantly impacted by Tropical Cyclone Yasi. The $583 million redevelopment project is expected to create 300 construction-related jobs and 300 jobs each year once operational. The project is due to commence in 2018 with project completion on 2021.
