Description

You are invited to attend the next Townsville Industry Breakfast, 26 June 2019.

Come along and hear from project leaders on future work and business opportunities in North Queensland!

Townsville Airport Ltd

Townsville Airport Commercial General Manager Isabelle Yates will provide an update on the $50 million terminal redevelopment and associted works. Plans to move ahead with the major upgrade were confirmed earlier this year following years of delays. The project, which has strong community support, will deliver an airport that reflects Townsville's unique destination and character.

CopperString Pty Ltd

John O'Brien, Director or CopperString 2.0 project, will be delivering a presentation on the proposed $1 billion high voltage transmission line, which plans to connect the North West Minerals Province (NWMP) at Cloncurry to the east-coast grid near Townsville via approximately 1,000km of 275kV High-Voltage transmission line, thus bringing the NWMP into the National Electricity Market. The CopperString project aims to support sustainable long term operation of existing mining and processing and increase economic output from the Townsville to Mt Isa export corridor via improved competitiveness for mining and minerals processing activity in the east and west of Northern Queensland. The project is currently undertaking late stage pre-construction development activities with an objective of reaching financial close in mid to late 2020.

Resolute Mining

Carpentaria Gold Pty Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Resolute Mining Limited (ASX: RSG), operates the Ravenswood Gold Mine adjacent to the town of Ravenswood in North Queensland. Dave Mackay, the Acting General Manager of Carpentaria Gold Pty Ltd, will provide an overview of the Ravenswood Expansion Project. The expansion plans will extend the operating life of the Ravenswood asset for at least another 13 years (2032), providing local employment and opportunities for local service providers.

Queensland Pacific Metals (QPM)

Townsville Energy Chemicals Hub Project plans build a new standalone processing plant in Townsville. Lycopodium is completing a feasibility study for the TECH project which is expected to require up to 500 contractors during its 12-month construction, in excess of 100 full-time operational employees, generate more than $240 million annually and potentially create other regional economic benefits including the opportunity for Townsville to lead the way in the high growth, critically important and sustainable battery sector.

Townsville Manufacturing Hub

Dean Deighton, Director of the Manufacturing Hub in Townsville, will provide an overview of the Hub and how the Hub will work with regional manufacturers to become more productive, increase international competitiveness and access emerging and diversified growth opportunities.
