TOWN HALL MEETING: HOMELESSNESS
Event Information
About this Event
In collaboration with the Newcastle Poverty Action Alliance, The Lock-Up will be hosting a Town Hall style community meeting focussed on Homelessness during the final weekend of OPEN HOUSE.
This open invitation meeting will provide a platform for local community groups and organisations, people who have or are currently experiencing homelessness, activists, artists and politicians to participate in an open forum discussion around homelessness, gentrification, affordable housing and the rising cost of living. Located in artist Keg de Souza’s immersive installation Newcastle School of Displacement 2019, the Town Hall meeting will use The Lock-Up as a vessel to create a temporary work station instigating disruption, community participation and a safe democratic space for dialogue and the sharing of ideas.
Light lunch and refreshments provided. Free event, RSVP essential.
